Concerned about lovebird

Hello all.Rosie has been laying eggs,(2-3) about every month,Same routine, lays her eggs over the course of 2 or 3 days, then goes about her usual daily activites,(bath ,foraging, visiting the other birds cages, etc). However this time Oct 11, she layed a couple of eggs, but she is still in the laying postion,on the bottom of her cage. She is eating, drinking, she leaves her cage only briefly, only to get a little something for nesting material. She has not taken her usual bath(usually every second day),she has not made any contact with my wife or myself, where as she is always on us.I.m concerned that she has been "pushing" for a couple of weeks. Is this part of a life-threatening egg-laying cycle?. thanksin advance bob

After she has finished laying and incubating her eggs, have you tried rearranging her cage? moving it to a new location? changing things up? giving less seed more fresh food?

She is a single bird? She may not be finished with laying. Lovebirds can lay 5, 6, or even 7 eggs. As long as she's eating, drinking and her poops look good, she should not be in a life-threatening cycle. Don't worry about her not interacting with you as she has "more important" things to tend to right now.

However, when she's done laying and abandons the eggs, do what has been suggested in other messages in this thread. In addition, gradually decrease the amount of daylight she's receiving until you have it down to a maximum of 12 hours, even if it means covering her cage while you're still active in the evening. Don't stroke her back when playing with her, as that stimulates her to lay.

Rather than offering more fresh food, I would offer less. Fresh food is a sign that food is bountiful and she thinks she'll have plenty of food to "feed her babies". If the fresh food is scarce, it might turn her internal clock off.
