Pics of my future lovebird!

Hello Lovebird lovers and everyone!

I am going to be posting alot about my lovebird, and searching the forums for info that has already answered any questions I may have. I have finished one Lovebird book and moving on to my next as soon as I get to Borders or Barnes and Noble. :)

My breeder here in Utah is still hand-feeding my Lovie and will wean him/her. Today she sent me some pics of how the lovebirds are looking and it has just made my day! I wanted to share! :D

Of these three lovebirds, I get second pick. So, not sure which one but ONE of these is my new buddy and first Lovebird. (Second bird alltime, but first REAL Bird pet that I will be old enough to take care of and appropriately raise.

Enjoy!

These lovies started hatching on Oct. 8th. So almost a month old!

I plan on keeping a dynamic photo-video journal of my time with this new friend and will keep you guys posted!

Ideas on names that have hit me before I have seen the pics of my bird:

Edogawa - after Edogawa Ranpo a Japanese Mystery author & character name of a favorite Japanese mystery Anime. (Love practicing my Japanese with that show!)

Now that I have seen my bird...not sure if Edogawa would fit. I have considered Shinichi another name from that show...but both don't feel like they are it yet. :D

This morning thought of:

Ipro - based on the Film company I had in High School and a group from one of my books. (unpublished work in progress, btw.)

So, I am not entirely sure if I will be able to decide until I hold my little guy. :D

is your breeder close to you? you should start handling these guys now, so the one you get will more readily take to you. thats not a must by any means, but it helps. i love them at that age.

you said you liked the name divot, on your intro thread. looks like these guys are mostly green. there's room for another divot on this board. i can think of only 3.

Thanks, Tishrei! :)

Royjoy, lol, thanks for the offer but I am not so sure my bird is a divot either. About handling them, the breeder is up just past North Salt Lake City and I am here in Orem. Maybe a 45 min. drive with flowing traffic and by no means too far for me to drive. I don't want to impose too much on my breeder...but you make a great point and now that I know which is going to come home with me eventually, that isn't a bad idea to get some trips in.

I sure would love the visits and the chance to peck my breeders brain with all my questions. :) Thanks for the suggestion! My first instinct is to say an hour drive is a bit too far for enough visits...but hey, 3 trips between now and when I get the bird is MUCH better than ZERO! 3 > 0 That was my type of math! ;)

Like I said above, I know which one of those lovebirds I will be guardian of so here is JUST my little guy/girl plus the exact hatch date is October 10th:

P.S. Both pics are of my bird. In case anyone wondered which one of those two I meant.

P.P.S. My breeder said the black on the beak grows out. Is that 100% true? I don't mean is my breeder telling the truth, because I REALLY like my breeder I feel lucky to have found her and so close to home. I mean, is it 100% probable that the black on the beak grows out eventually?

Anyone with experience with that?

Yes, the black on the beak will completely go away by the age of 4-6 months old.

Prior to that time, you will also notice the red brow and bib coming in on that sweet little face.
