Question ?????Typical Lovy Behavior?????

Okay my lovebird Rissa hasn't let anyone touch her in a while!! Except me! now she is slowly starting to let my younger siblings pet her... though only when i'm holding her!! I'm not sure what to make of it!! and she is suddenly interested in playing with my pens when i'm working on stuff!! usually she sits aloff on my shoulder!!! and she hasn't and still isn't interested in her toys!! I've given up on making toys she isn't going to play with.. she seems content at just sitting on my sholder all day!!
anyone had that happen befor?????? I just can't picture her sitting there playing with her toys cause well she never has in the year and a half i've had her!!

Hello,

Sounds like typical lovebird behavior to me :) Our lovebird would only let my dad pet him for about the first 5 years we had him! He's also never been interested in toys and has always been a people person(bird)!

Our lovebird would never "allow" us to write with a pen while he was on the table he'd be all over it--in a playful manner :)

my lovie used to sit contently on my shoulder while i was typing on my laptop, NOW she wants to come down and pick off my red navigator button! so while i'm typing this, she is in the cage. i'm not sure "how much" peaches plays with her toys as i'm at work all day. and as soon as i get home she wants to be out with me, but i will always leave them in there "just in case". and i rotate them around and switch with other toys every week or so. i've read if parrots get really bored they may start plucking their feathers, don't think it's as common in the littler parrots but don't want to take the chance.

Thanks for the input guy... it proves i'm not alone!!
LOL she loves her neck rubs!! She is Really Spoiled!!! She play a little with her toys but whatever!! If she wants it like that then let her have it!!! She doesn't really puck her feathers! Well not what i've noticed! When she's on my sholder she likes drinking form my water or whatever i drink!! and she likes playing with my hair!
Go figure!! :D

Yep, Rissa, that sounds pretty typical to me. I've had Nosey for quite a few years and she doesn't play with her toys very much. Sometimes she'll hang on this springy thing & bounce around like she's on a bungie cord - but not so much, anymore. She loves Mr. Frog & regurgitates for him. But I've almost given up trying to buy her toys cause she almost never likes them. She has like 10 or more she hasn't touched once. Now MJ, my African Grey - I can give him a bottle cap or popsicle stick & he'll play with it for an hour, LOL! Nosey's just a fussy little girl. And if she could superglue herself to my shoulder, she would. Except when I'm on the computer. Then she pulls the mouse away from me by the cord or stands on my "mouse hand" and bites it. Or hops on my head, looks down at me, and chirps loudly until I pay attention to HER. lol. They're crazy little things, aren't they?
