Trying to get them to enjoy it

I just bought my birds a play gym and they will not really play on it the Lovie looks at it jumps on it and then jumps off and screams at it how can I get them to enjoy their gym and feel safe on it because I know they will love it once they play with it

Just give them time. Allow them to explore it when they feel comfortable doing it. Many birds initially fear anything new that pops into their "world". There's really nothing you can do to force them into playing on it and you might frighten them even more if you tried. Keep it near their cage and anywhere they are playing outside of their cage. Also, try placing a couple of interesting toys on the new play gym or maybe use one of their favorite treats. That might entice them to give the gym a try.

When I was trying to get Peanut used to a cozy hut I first introduced it to him outside of his cage and put millet in it...he'll do anything for millet! lol He was hesitant at first and would only eat the millet on the edges of the cozy hut but after a while he went in and now has no problem with it in his cage. That's not to say that he uses it, but at least he's used to it! lol

So I agree with jamieo...give the treats a try and also let your birds see you playing with it. Curiousity and treats are powerful tools in the bird world!

Yep, Bribe them. A millet spring is something most lovebirds cannot resist...put a sprig on the gym and just watch them go for it.

It may take time for them to get used to something new, but they'll eventually warm up to it.
