How old are your lovebirds? I wouldn't encourage nesting unless they are both over 1½ years old and you really want to breed them. Lovebirds can be prolific breeders and often "double clutch"; which is when the first clutch of chicks are still weaning, they lay another clutch. In a short amount of time you can go from 2 lovebirds to 10. There's also the possibility you might have to handfeed and if you've never done that, it can be very trying. You'll want to weigh all the pros and cons before making the decision to allow them to breed.
Lovebirds will mate, simply to mate, not always to produce eggs. For fertile eggs, the egg must be fertilized 10-12 days before it is laid. Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.

I agree. Unless you are prepared to handfeed day one chicks, have all of the proper handfeeding equipment, a brooder, thermometer, formula, etc. its unfair to set up pairs and a nestbox. Too many baby birds die every year from inexperience. JMHO
