My Petie is 8 known years and is possibly 10. His first owner thinks he was 2 when she got him.

I wouldn't be surprised if some lovebirds were older than 15 years old...
If a lovebird is on a healthy diet, including fresh foods (veggies, whole grain breads, sprouts, pasta, cooked eggs/beans, etc) then they have the potential to live a much longer and healthier life!

I have a few that are about 7 years old, but do know someone that has a pair of lovebirds that are 15 years old. Diet, love and vet care are the key.

I was just visiting a lovebird group on Livejournal. 2 folks there each have a lovie that is 17+ years old :)
That made me smile, for sure. I'd like to have Beetle-brat around for a long time. -e-
