beak rubbing and recht pop

so my lil lovies do some interesting things get sumthin new all the time their latest thigns tho are beak rubbing and making a weird noise im sure the noise is normal but what does it mean ? its a low reee cht then a pop at the end then i think the bealrubbing is a way to brush their beaks or sumthin it mostly happens after they eat but they suddenly put their heads down to the perches and rub their heads back and forth scratching their beaks on them more to come

Beak rubbing, unless excessive to the point of hurting the beak, is very normal and generally follows eating something really good or a bath. It can also indicate, with a bit of chattering noise, that the male is interested in the female. Normally it's followed by a little dance of sorts and a bunch of clicking noises.

It's a part of the courting behavior. Along with a lot of head scratching (with the feet) lots of clicking and the occasional quick "chirp, chirp, chirp" is all his way of telling his mate "I'm the guy for you". If the pair is not of breeding age yet, you might consider limiting their time together until they are both of age; even though these behaviors can start as early as 3-4 months old.

You might want to figure out the sex of both. If you have one of each, you might want to think about a breeding box for them.

Post some pictures and someone on BB should be able to tell the sex.

They keep taking their bands off? What kind of legbands do they have? If they are plastic, take them off and throw them away. If they have split (to allow slipping onto the leg) bands, take them off and record the information off them and do not put them back on. If they have a one piece band and they can take them off, it's too big and should not be on the bird in the first place.

Just because the lovebirds are showing signs of mating, it doesn't necessarily mean they'll lay eggs. Sometimes they mate, simply to mate and do not want a nest. Also male/male and female/female pairings will mock mate as one will take on the roll of the hen and vice versa. Younger birds and siblings will also "play house" so to speak.

How old are your birds again? Anything under 1-1½ years old, you should not even think about breeding them.

Fischers lovebirds do not tuck paper into their tails like peachface lovebirds.
Some breeders can tell the sex of an eye ring bird by the shape of their eye. Not the fleshy ring around the eye, but the eye itself. Rounder tends to be male and more almond shaped, female. DNAing these two might be a good idea so you'll know what to expect for the future.

they are about 7 or 8 months now. the bands are plastic i think, they seem to be losing color on the sides. they are one peice, just a ring. i gess they are too big because they take them off nd i can put them back on just by moving their toes into them. i dont want to breed them at least for some time now. if i breed the lovies i want to hand raise them, but i am still in school and have to time for that. i do want to get them dna tested but i have no idea where to start. i found avian biotech but i think id rather take them to a vet and have them send in samples. and thanx for wanring me bout that 1 1/2 year thing i wonder if the same if for tiels.
