A little miracle: love bird-peach face

Our friend is staying in Melbourne for a few months and we are taking care of his love bird. It is a cock, 4-5 years old. We have two budgies and I only had budgies in my life as pets. My budgie hen made a few damagaes like biting the wall, picture frame, she can be nippy too (male budgie is sweet personality). Then, we have love bird now and I can't be more happy. We bonded, he is such a sweet bird you couldn't believe it! Not nippy at all, not destructive (likes to shred papers only), likes to snuggle on the shoulder, wants to be petted around his head, kisses etc. So gentle and without a fear, he went everywhere and to everyone from day one. It is a great pleasure to see all three birds flying around. I love my budgies and now I can't think to be parted from little Ciko peach face one day.

That is always a problem when caring for someone elses pet.

I could never bread birds because I wouldn't want to give any of them up.

A well socialized lovebird is just that....a lovebird. I do breed them and I do get very attached to them all.

What a handsome little peachie :) MJ is right -- a well socialized lovebird is just... well, loving!

:) I am happy you understand what I am talking about and why I am so amazed with Ciko.
The little one is really more like a person in a parrot shape than a - bird! Our budgie hen was a centre of Universe in our family still, she had periods when she was nippy and still she does it sometimes although she is treated the same all the time. As I said, male budgie is totally different. But little peach is just incredible! He lived with one person all the time, our friend is single, very nice person with great love for animals/birds (he is an antropologist) and great & sweet personality too. Since he is going to Europe in November and it is complicated to transport Ciko overthere (pet agency charges Au$1300 for door-to-door) little angel might stay with us. I read that peach face love birds could be agressive etc. but this one is...one word says all: angel

Lovebirds tend to be more aggressive towards other birds than humans to be honest... They are known for attacking even birds 100 times larger than them, if not bigger! And have been known to kill or injure other small birds... But as you see, if well socialized they are sweeties too!
