Feline Pine/Yesterday's News ?

Anyone ever use these products? I keep a giant tub that is 50% feline pine, 50% yesterday's news for my cats and ferrets. Yesterday's news is recycled newspaper that has been pulped, washed, filtered and then turned into little pellets. Feline pine is the same thing done with pine. When wet, it crumbles but it's not dusty- ferrets have very very sensitive respritory systems and this stuff is great with them, so I was thinking would it be ok for the birds? I was thinking of using it ni the bottom of the nesting boxes. Any ideas?

I've always stayed away from cedar and pine with small animals and exotics: birds, ferrets, hedgehogs, mice, rabbits, etc. Aspen is safer. In regards to litter boxes for ferrets, I always used Yesterday's News on it's own.

I like Carefresh; it's a recycled paper bedding. I like the Carefresh Ultra, which is white but the regular should be fine for nest boxes. However, I've never breed birds so I can't say for sure. Some of the experienced breeders will weigh in with advice, I'm sure :)
