Zen loves millet, is addicted to millet, couldn't live without millet.
Lovebirds naturally like to hide, so Peek-a-Boo is an easy game to teach them. Zen also loves to play ball.

Most lovebirds like bells. Also a popular toy with ours believe it or not is crumpled up paper or saran "like the thin clear plastic that covers cigerette packages or popcorn packages". They love the sound it makes. Our also like to play hide and seek in our pockets or sleves.

My lovebird Indy LOVES millet as well. He becomes pretty aggressive when I put it in his cage though, and if he pecks at my hand as I'm setting it in there, I pull the millet out of the cage and tell him he needs to chill out. It's not so common anymore, but if your bird gets aggressive towards your hand, I suggest not rewarding that behavior!
As for games, Indy really likes to shred paper, so I'll open up junk mail and let him shred the ends of paper. I've heard from die hard bird owners that you shouldn't let your birds shred paper with lots of ink on it, but Indy usually gets bored within a minute or so and is looking for other mischief! Lastly, have you tried toys with strips of leather? I've actually gotten a cheap leather belt at the local good will clothing store which my bird really seems to enjoy shredding as well. Cheap toys are the way to go! |

Our lovebird loves his bell. Sometimes he also plays with the balls with little bells in them. He even helps when you hang shirts up in the closet.
You might want to head over to the nearest dollar store and pick up one of those little electronic phones that they'll probably have. Or any other electronic toy that makes interesting beeps. Monkey has several different phones and a guitar that plays "it's a small world." Just stay away from red things, as Monkey tends to turn evil when you show him something red. As far as treats go, he loves millet, and sunflower and safflower seeds. We try to give him different things, like fresh fruits and veggies, but he usually just gets mad at us and nips us. He might like spinach, but I'm not 100% sure about it.

Do any of you have lovebirds who enjoy those toys where they have to creatively use their balance and such to get at the food that you "hide" in the toy? For instance, Indy really enjoys trying to eat an almond out of a small wiffle ball. He can only get small bites, and he'll push the thing all over the floor trying to get at the almond. Nuts in general are an easy way to tempt my pig of a lovebird.
