This is just amazing. I love my little guy sooooooo much, I can't imagine how that woman could be so indifferent to the obvious physical pain the bird was in, if nothing else.

Hi Royjoy...Well, we're managing to give Lucy the flamazine and we're waiting. She's certainly a happy bird and is very good at letting me put the ointment on her. I'm scared about opening my mouth to the devil, but I think I see a bit of an improvement on her upper back area. It's hard to tell under her wing and that was certainly where it was the worse.
Unfortunately, the plucking goes on....I've seen her pull the pin feather out and a couple cute little fluffy feather on her chest. Our hope is that once we get the lesions healed up and the skin growing back, the change of environment, the better food, abudance of toys and attention will help her stop plucking. She looks horrible, especially because the ointment is making her goopy, but I'm misting her with warm water in the afternoon once I know for sure the ointment is all absorbed so that her skin isn't so itchy from the pin feathers. Maybe that'll also help keep her away from the bad places. I did notice her start to go after her left leg...it's missing some feathers now but I can only take this one step at a time. First we'll deal with the worst of it and then work on the rest. Poor little girl....our little feathered friends deserve better than to be mistreated. |
