A bit confused.
We ALL would love a free bird but not sure why it is a prerequisite.
Secondly, lovebirds aren't costly birds and you could probably find a good breeder in your area who could sell you one for around the 60-80 dollar mark. I paid more for mine, but I have certainly seen them for sale around that price.
It is far more important to make sure your baby lovebird is well-socialized and healthy....these guys can live a long time.....although I can certainly understand looking around for someone who might want to sell them cheaper than someone else, free is a long shot and usually would involve an older bird that someone is trying to get rid of.
Also, do keep in mind that a cage and a constant supply of food and toy, toys and more toys can be very costly. Birds are not a cheap animal...even the little guys.
check online for breeders in your area or some of the local buy and sells or craig's list or kijiji. Many have listings of birds for sale....
