name changing?

Is it ok to change a birds name? he is 3yrs old and his current name is Pretty Bird and he says that but I would like to change his name to Petre I thought I could teach him his new name by saying Petres a pretty bird or Petre pretty bird.What do you think?

all my birds had previous names
i dont know what boogies was, wasabi was pretty boy which he never said or cared much for
chickie baby's was chicken - which she says and responds to still. we call her that a lot
the dude's name was jude and he says hi jude - but i figure dude is close enough to dude anyhow lol

im sure the bird wont care terribly.

I always keep the names whether or not I really like them. For instance "Erma" who'da thought... she knows her name, so we kept it. Then theres "Captain" ... now how many people have a parrot named "Captain Morgan?" So not original.... HATE IT. However, thats his name and he knows it. So Captain it is.

I call him "Meatball." He is starting to like it, but he always uses his name when he wants out or wants to step up and such. Shiny Pants is kinda tempting I must admit. LOL
