Pics of my baby!

Hi, I'm new here and just wanted to show you some pictures of my lovebird.
We call her Venus. We don't really know what sex she is but for some reason she is always refered to as a female in our home...
Well here is my baby:

On my boyfriends head:) She has just started to come to us by herself and that is where she usually lands...

Helping me with my homework (or pretending to do so... she usually just jumps in my keyboard and steals the mouse button

Pretty girl:)

I got her for free from some guy who didnīt manage to train her and didn't want her anymore, so I'm not really sure how old she is, but she's been really easy to train so far so I'm guessing that she is quite young...
just wanted to show her to you

Awww... she's a pretty little peach-faced x eye-ring hybrid :-)

What kind of parrots are popular as pets in Iceland?

We actually have quite a alot of pet birds here considering how remote the country is. I work in a petshop and in it we have one handfed female cockatoo, 3 amazons (one double yellow, and two blue fronted), quite a bit of lovebirds, finches, budgies, cockatiels, an electus female who is owned by a woman working at the shop, senegals, a sun conure, ringnecks, rosellas...

African grey are quite popular here but sadly people buy them a lot without introducing themselves to the breed so they end up as agressive birds kept in a cage all day... But I guess that happens everywhere. Lots of people have really friendly and well trained birds that they bring with them when they come to the shop, which I love

There are some macaws here but they are really hard to get, and really expesive. Well, all birds are expensive here... The cockatoo costs $4600 right now which is lower than it would usually cost because as many of you might know Iceland just went bankrupt and the icelandic krone is worth nothing now

Didn't know Iceland went bankrupt!! Sorry to hear that....
Sounds like your woes and the same and the ones being felt the world over...

Your baby is beautiful, by the way...and very much suits her name!!
I wish they didn't love cords so much....I caught my just as he chewed through a cable cord on the VCR. ( yes, still have one of those). Now, it's got electrical tape wrapped on it and is less strategically placed for climbing.

A very beautiful bird! My budgie also likes to sit on the screen of my laptop - he does that when he thinks I have been on the computer too long and should be playing with him instead.

Hehe well it's one of the biggest petshops in the country. I know one other store that also sells very many bird species but it's not as big and doesn't take as good care of the animals as this one does.

Iceland has always been high on my list of countries to visit. I'd LOVE to do a trek on the Icelandic horses :)

It's weird about the whole bankruptcy thing -- I'm still trying to wrap my head around that. I do hope for the best for your nation!

Can't wait to hear more about your pretty little lovie. Venus sure is adorable!
