Cool A New Home

My lovie Schmee and parakeet The Purple Professor have always had seperate cages. The have sat across from eachother for the last couple of months. I decided to take a leap of faith, buy a big cage, and turn them into roomates! They had never interacted before, so i was worried about aggression. It was love at first sight!! I am so happy, they are totally in love with each other. They feed and clean eachother! The cage is about 2 1/2 ft x 5 ft. I am proud of my babies and decided to share some pics with yall.

So great to see....Lovebirds aren't known for getting along well with other species so you are very lucky. Keep an eye out for a little while, but the nice thing is that you've got a large enough cage that they can keep out of each other's space, if necessary.

They've been together now for almost a week with no problems at all! Such sweet boys.. they have been totally inseperable.

They are very cute together, just a word of warning---separate them at the first sign of aggression.

Congrats! You are very lucky that they like each other! All of my birds have to be housed in their own cages because none of them like each other. I would love to see them interact together but it just hasn't happened yet. Way to go Professor and Schmee!

haha yea my birds have waaayy to many nicknames: Dr. Purple, The Little Man with Pants, Schmeezle, The Attorney...
I have been watched for aggression, and was pretty much expecting it. I really havent even had a tense moment watching them. Tonight they took a 30 minute bath together in their water dish, then groomed eachother clean. The Professor had never been interested in taking a bath until the big move! :-)
