Stress Chewing??

I just got my first lovebird, Lola, less than a week ago. Within the first day of me having her, I brought her over to my boyfriends, who is an vet nurse. She was very quiet when I first got her, and in the 2 days she spent with him shes become a completely different bird. But she has been chewing on my shirt whenever I'm holding her, or anyone elses for that matter. Boyfriend suggested that shes stress chewing ... Any ideas?? Thanks

Grats on your new baby!

Birds chew... Give her some toys and things to chew on

Boomer loves turning my shirts into fishnets. . . I don't think it has anything to do with stress, he just likes making holes in them, I think it's a pretty common bird thing.

I bet if you did a poll of the board you would find out that most of us have quite a collection of "bird shirts" that have holes in them.

I know they like chewing .... I definitely have my first "bird shirt" that will remain the shirt I wear when I'm holding her :) She hasnt been so nice to me, I hope she starts bonding to me soon. She just fell asleep on a towel that I had draped over me. I hope she realizes shes in a better home and turns around soon. People that had her before me butchered her wings & cut them ALL the way across :(

Boomer's wings were like that when I got him. . . The poor baby had a bare butt! He's got all his flights back now though.

When I first got Boomer he hated hands bc of his old owner, I spent a lot of time just talking to him at first. Just keep up with handling her and talking to her and I'm sure things will get better for you!
