Apple-Jack can talk!

Apple-Jack my peach faced/black masked hybrid lovebird can talk! This morning my brother was dancing and singing with Orrin. He and Orrin like to dance around and suddenly stop and yell "whoo hoo!" Apple-Jack was watching this, and we noticed he was bobbing his head up and down, mimicing my brother and Orrin. Then, out of the blue, he clearly said "whoo hoo" three seperate times!

I was so amazed! I thought lovebirds weren't supposed to mimic--my little Apple-Jack does! What a smart little boy!

Congrats! I had many many lovebirds over quite a few years. None of them every spoke a word. Some would whistle but that was it! Great for you!

That is a really cool surprise. Sometimes I think they learn more from each other with regards to mimicking than they do from us.

Lovebirds definitely aren't known for their speaking ability, but can learn to mimic. Their "talking" is more of chirping that sounds like human words.

That's so great that your baby says "Whoo hoo!" Mika has been on this earth for over seven years and has never uttered anything but loud, piercing, DELIGHTFUL chirps. Haha!!

That's great:D
My lovie mimics human speech. She says: pretty bird and you're cute (which she picked up from a video on youtube) and it's kind of funny because she only speaks in english and we never speak english at home.

She also says "aatweeet" (which she also picked up on youtube) and if I start to say "aaaa" she will finish the "tweet" with me. It's really funny and really cute. I need to get it on video sometime to show you guys. I'm also gonna try to get her talking on video
