Question Will another lovebird help another??

I was just wondering if another simi tame lovebird will help with taming another lovebird that isnt tame at all??? I have a lovebird that was bought from a small pet store that was in the cage by itself and then i have a handfed lovebird who i got from a breeder...Raz(handfed) is some what tame...she will still run from you when you come to close but most of the time, and it will take a min or so, she will step up on my finger and i am starting to touch her back when shes on my finger but she still moves when i put my other hand close to her...Peachy(store bought) he doesnt even like my hands at all...first he didnt even like when i was near the same side of the cage but now he doesnt move wheni come close and when he is out i can slowly put my hand up to him and even have my fingers touch his feet but he wont even attempt to step up...it seems like its taking forever LOL but im also afraid that peachy will get what little tamed raz is out of being tame...any suggestions on how to work on that??? ill use just about anything right now LOL...

Also i was told from the picture that i have of them from the breeder that i got Raz from that Peachy is the male and Raz is a female...Just cause of how their feet are? Is that true???

I have never found any truth in sexing by feet position. The only definite ways to tell with lovebirds are: if one lays an egg, the bird is a sex linked mutation, or you DNA sex. Putting a semi-tame lovebird with an untamed lovebird could backfire. It is very possible that they will decide to bond to each other instead of you. Try working with them seperatly.

NO, it will not help at all. It will make it harder and take longer I promise you that. And yes its highly possible the untamed lovie will cause your tamed lovie to distance from you. Keep doing what your doing. You cannot sex lovies by how they are sitting on a perch. Taming takes patience and time. See my thread on Exciting Breakthroughs in the discussion forum. It has taken me TWO YEARS to get Charlie back to a hand.

Ok so should i just keep one in the cage and the other out?? cause i know there are time when they are out together that they always want to be near each other. And peachy will fly around us if we are holding Raz

Until you have tamed and created a strong relationship with both of them it is probably best to have only one out at a time. Also, is one clipped and the other not?

They are both clipped but peachy can still fly pretty good.

You just have to love that about lovebirds! For such small birds they have very strong wings!

i had never heard of the sexing by feet position..that's interesting! You'll probably want to spend time with one bird out at a time and maybe even in a different room. When you take one out does that mean the other has to stay in its cage until the next day?
