How to stop random biting?

Recently my lovebird has started biting randomly, just now she bit me really hard on the cheek for what seemed to be no apparent reason!

She will sit on my shoulder very happy and nibble on my hair or play with my necklace and all of a sudden she bites my neck or cheek really hard, even if I didn't move or talk or anything.

I'm taking care of my friends budgie while she's on vacation and he will give you nice soft kisses on the cheek while on the shoulder but I don't even trust my own bird anywhere near my face. I saw that she was really jealous when the other bird got to give me kisses so I decided to give her a chance, and thatīs how I got the bite on my cheek just now.

I put her in her cage and locked her in as a punishment... Is there anything else I can do? Any reason you can think of as of why she does this?

It could be a hormonal thing. My bird was like this during his moult. Just biting for no reason. If you may notice a lot of people are having these problems this time of year. Maybe she is jealous.,hormonal, starting to moult? I hope someone can offer you more help :)

Sounds like you already pinned it. Yours is jealous. I think they also do this to try to control us. I just starting to realize that my Cherry does this when I'm not paying CLOSE attention to her. Not positive I'm still learning.

It's that time of the year :) I think a lot of us feel your pain! That is definitely what is going on then if she is trying to mate with her ball. Problem solved. Basically what you did by putting her in her cage is what I do when my baby is ill from moulting and being hormonal. If you can't play nice ..... It does seem odd though since your just sitting there and nothing is happening and they just start to bite you. It stinks

In the past month, I've been waking up to my male dutch blue lovie humping my heel as I sleep with my feet uncovered. He is "doing the dance" on EVRYTHING and to my mum's embarassment, on our guests shoes and even on real estate agent's briefcase (It WAS genuine leather...at least he has some taste). You name it, he humps it. I've never met such a randy bird. When he is excited, I can't let him close to my ears because he will nip them.

Oh my god I just died laughing at both of you. Yeah my friends lovie went at her foot too! TX we forgot to pay tribute to feet and leather briefcases :) Well it seems love birds are as bad as cockatiels. Anyone ever noticed tiels are prolific about that? LOL I guess I have something to look foward to when mine gets older
