I'm rescuing a lovie... Any advice?
I'm adopting a lovie who's owner died. Apparently the owner was elderly and could not care for him correctly anymore. He has been "physically cared for" so I'm told, but not given any attention.
He's yellow and green, and around 18 years old. "not finger trained"
I assume this bird is probably not friendly at all. I really feel for him though. I have yet to go and meet him but I have a feeling that he is probably not had the best life so far.
Any advice? Do you think there is hope that he might come out of his shell? I read these birds only live to be about 20 years old or so. Is the fact that he is older something I should be concerned about?
I have owned a lovie in the past but that was around 10 years ago. I managed to finger train this bird, non hand fed and from a pet shop.
I'd love any insight you all might have to offer.
Thanks!
