Smile Most unusual baby lovebird

Just came back from visiting East Road Pets in Invercargill this afternoon, and they have a whole lot of new baby lovebirds (with black still on their beaks), and lovely baby budgies. Weeeeeeelll I was soo tempted to buy one of their lovebirds. But I really think my budgie Lucki would be overwealmed with jealously if I brought this one home. This lovebird is still so young that he is sitting on the bottom of the cage, and his feathers have short stripes of orange on them - really quite startleing and beautiful to look at. I think he might be some sort of a peach face cross, but I've never seen one with such unusual colours all over. I hope someone that really loves birds takes him home and he doesn't just end up forgotten in a backyard avairy.

You do realize there is ONE fool-proof way to avoid the horrid backyard avairy scenario...
GET HIM/HER!
I say this because I was due to get a male rock pebbler... there were three babies... what were the chances none of them would be male? Well, that's exactly what happened... three little girls. I decided to wait for my boy. However, everytime I got an email or call from the breeder, I would panic... fearing she was calling/writing to tell me "she" had been sold. I then found myself concerned what type of home she'd end up in... worried literally sick about how her life could end up. We've all heard the stories. Well, I've decided to take what was obviously meant to be my little girl and I couldn't be happier!

Now, being a proud momma & all, I'd just love you to check out the story of my plump little girl @ Possibly having a change of heart... and most recent pics @ My GIRL Moo-shoo!!

All I'm suggesting is that you think about it for a bit. You don't want to be wondering 5 years form now what ever happened to that little guy that touched your heart.
Good luck.

No, I decided a while ago that I really am not going to get another bird friend for Lucki. He really does like all the attention to be put on just him. Anyway, I can't buy every bird I like, otherwise there wouldn't be any room in my house for me! lol

Oh... I understand. I just got the impression you had a "special connection" with this little guy, since you were home and still had him in your thoughts.

P.S... Kudos to you for sticking to your limit. I wish I were so disciplined!

Same here Mabird. I would have brought the baby home and found a spot for him as I explain to the rest of the flock and family why he needs me so much. I just can't say "no" to many of the ones I see that are "special".

He was cute and adorable. If I didn't have Lucki I would have taken him in a heartbeat. But I know deep down that I'm really a one bird person, and everytime I go to that bird store for budgie toys I end up badly wanting one of the birds there! Especially when they have new babies in.

I wish I could have taken a photo, I bet his colouring is unusual as far as lovebirds go.

I was thinking that very same thing!! I'm so curious what in his coloring made him so unusual! If you go back for another visit, at least you'll be prepared!

He was striped? That would be really cool to see! Did you catch his species?

No, they don't have species writen on the cages. Just the price tag. I still want him but it would be such a bad idea. My house isn't ideal for birds. I took Lucki because he was in a terrible situation.
