I live in an apartment with my lovie and I've never gotten a complaint or anything. I do not think he's that loud except if he's on my shoulder right up against my ear. Although I've had people visiting who have to cover their ears when he start calling for attention so I think some are more sensitive than others

I have always wanted a love bird, but most people i talk to always go on about how loud they are. I can deal with loud birds, myself (most of the times :P ) but im thinking getting a love bird right now wouldn't be the best thing for me. Like i said, right now i have GCC and my sister has a parrotlet, and they've recently been separated (parrotlet was plucking my GCC) and Cookie, my GCC is VERY loud. She screams throughout the day, but mostly in the mornings and late afternoon. I've always heard GCC are quite, so i guess Cookie is an exception to *that* rule. Since Cookie's so loud, if i added a lovebird, would that make the lovebird loud, too?

My lovebird will scream along with my conure .... If Clem yells, Lola yells, especially when we come home. I don't mind the lovebirds calls or chirps or songs. I think they're quite nice.

I've seen a few GCCs up for rehome due to noise complaints and I have read posts on other forums about GCCs that are louder than expected. I don't doubt that part of that is due to everyone having a varying definition of "loud" and "noisy"... and due to the fact that every parrot is an individual.

Did Cookie get louder when she was separated from the p-let? Or have her vocalizations remained the same?

It's difficult to say if adding a lovebird to your home would make Cookie louder (or, for that matter, make the lovebird louder). Sometimes having another feathered companion in the home will reduce the calling and such to chattering... but sometimes it will increase the tone and volume.

We have 4 lovebirds which were orgiginally kept in the house but have now been moved outside, their screeches were ear piercing and used to go right through me...very very loud...I have a much more peaceful household with them outside!
