Both my boys sleep in Happy Huts. They love it!!

I just don't recommend it for hens because they can get very territorial and view it at their nest which encourages them the lay eggs. I think for females I'd buy those Cozies that are fuzzy upright blankets you tie to the cage.

I used to give one of my love birds a tent but once she reached sexual maturity she made a hole inside of it. She then hid in there. The was the last time that I used one.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Sounds like it's not a great idea for a female, but might be ok for a male lovie.

Honeydew is a male so I think I'll try it out. I'll post some pics once I have it all together.

Pixel is most likely male and I have a cozy hut in his cage. He doesn't sleep in it but he loves to go in and out and drag stuff like bells in there (he hasn't dragged anything that would be nesting material in there). I think he thinks it's a toy rather than a cozy place to sleep

Hi, Jenniferag! I was thinking of making my guys something simular to the little octopus tents you've made. Any possibility I could convince you to post instructions? What did you use for the top piece?

Thanks much... these look great!

When I had lovebirds, my males would go in a tent but the female never would. They were an interesting trio. None of them were hand tame but they weren't aggressive either. The 3 of them lived together happily for years.

Hey Mabird!!
I got your e-mail, here are the instructions...I actually found them on this board a while ago...I wish I could take credit for the whole idea!
But we started with a untreated peice of wood... we got our at Joannes Fabric Store...I think it's cedar?

We twisted the eyehook into the center of the board and wrapped the peice of fabris around the rim on the board.

Then we took nails and hammered the fabric into the board. We actually folded the material over teh nail and then hammered it in so the birds can't get to the nails.... then I sniped the peices going around into strips.
That was it!

here are the pictures I found to help a little....

Lovebirds Do love huts to play and hide in - I never gave them to Females anymore because they did get crazy territorial over them but males seems to do OK.
