Even if they aren't going to hatch i would leave them cause then they will not double clutch. You may have candeled them too soon but I am not sure with lovies.

So as of this morning we are up to 5 eggs!!!...so just so i can get some more good reading on how to handfeed and when to start can anyone give me some good wesites to read up on??? I've been reading and studying all of this since b4 i got my lovies as a just in case it happened...i still have to check if they are fertile but i figured i would do that when the last egg is 5 days old that way i dont have to keep bothering mommy just in case they are...if anyone else as any other advice please fill me in!!

I have a pair of eclectus who have successfully hatched and raised chicks. I will defer to a lovebird expert on the particulars of this species, but having gone through the whole experience I want to make a couple suggestions: leave the eggs the full 23 (or more) days. This means leave all of them until the last egg laid has had time to hatch. Sometimes some eggs are fertile and some of the eggs are clear, especially with first time breeders. Leaving clear eggs the full hatch time will keep Razzle from laying again immediately and will give her mate experience in feeding her while she is nesting.
Secondly, unless the parents do not feed the babies, you may want to hold off on hand feeding completely and let the parents raise their chicks. You can handle them daily once they are feathered and do a pretty good job of taming them. I think hand feeding babies is not something you want to learn by reading. If the parents do not feed them, then of course you'll need to do this and maybe you can get a local breeder to give you some hands on instructions. The most important thing is for the chicks to get the best possible start, right? Good luck and enjoy! Kathyh |

Hello, lovebird eggs should start to hatch after 18 days from the first one laid then every other day after that. IF you decide to pull them from the nest, I usually wait till the youngest is about 12-14 days old. They are the cutest things ever to look at..
Here is a pic of the baby from my last clutch. We have named him Noodle! He is the most uncoordinated baby I have ever seen!! :) I keep him in my master bathroom, when he is hungry he climbs out his box and wonders my bedroom looking for me with his neck stretched high and his mouth opened wide, and always falling over himself!! I love him so much,he is so adorable. Anyways good luck with your clutch! Hope you get to see babies soon!
