lucalove, just something to note. Depending on the mutations of the parents when a baby is what is called a sex-linked mutation it is possible to sex the baby without a DNA sexing. Unless the mother is a sex-linked mutation your baby is a girl.

Thanks for the info, I wish I would have known that before, but the breeder must not have known much about sex-linked mutations! I'm not sure of the parent's mutations but I will try to get that info from the breeder.
He/She's also become obsessed with being with me all the time. She hates being in her cage and doesn't even play with her toys. If I am in the same room when she's in her cage she will go ballistic and start chirping and running up and down the cage. If I do leave the room she just sits on the same perch infront of the food dishes which is a dowel perch. She also doesn't use the highest perch for sleeping. When I am working at my desk I put her on her playgym with toys and treats but she isn't interested and will try to chase my hands away from books or whatever I'm working on. How do I teach her to play independently? I'm worried that when I go to work she will just sit there. |

I talked to the breeder. They said the parents are double dark violet and violet. Can these two mutations create a cinnamon? I don't think they know much about mutations since they didn't know what 'Australian' Cinnamon was.

I have a Whiteface Violet pair that produces baby girl like that. Mine are just a little bit darker though. That's a pretty little bird.

Whiteface does not = turquoise. What do you mean by that? There are many whiteface lovebirds that are not turquoise. And I find that most people call them violets, not turquoise. I do anyway.

you have to learn mutations there is a difference between a mutation and a combination for a mutations white face was an old name to Turquoise mutation you can combine it with other mutations which lead to a bird not looks turquoise but its mutation is still turquoise something like combining it with double dark it will be Turquoise double dark its body color will ever be Turquoise but its name still is please check Agapornis.info hosted by Dirk Van den Abeele Roseicollis mutations section for more information.

So I guess I am living in the past, as I used to be right-they were called white faced-but it was changed to turquoise. That's a good website...I've been referring to albs for mutation info but I like this better. I don't understand the AquaTurquoise...that's not how I would picture it at all.
