Question Confused...

Ok so im confused on wat to do about my lovebirds and i needs some "professional" advice.

I've heard from more then a few people that since my last babies "disappeared" that i should take the father and put him in a different cage until the babies have hatched and grew a little cause he could be the one that is "possibly" eating them and yes i've heard of that happening. But the thing is now that im a day or two away from the eggs hatching i've noticed that mama bird is out of the nest more often the she usually is and the papa bird is more bothersome to her. Is that a sign that i should take him out or is that normal?? Mama bird will come out just to fight with him and to be close to him more then a dozen times a day now...is that normal?...

Im really wanting and trying to do everything i can to help this clutch make it this time around! Can anyone give me some "real" advice this time around???

I have never pulled a parent from the cage. In my cases the females would stay in the nest box the majority of the time for the first few days. During this time the male would help feed her. I also had one pair where the male would do pretty much equal care for the baby. I think that this is going to have to be a judgement call that only you can make. If they are very bonded seperating them may cause problems for the female and she make abandon the eggs/babies. If you do this I would advise being ready to handfeed if necessary. Best of luck!

Matt

I do recommend you that donot take the male out. He can help the female feed their children. The baby bird can survive may depend on how good of their father and mother too. Here is one of the best father and mother that I ever know. They can feed all of six babies.
