Question Lemon and her attitude!

Ok i'm not sure if its me or it Lemon wants to be head honcho or what but everytime i take all 3 babies out Lemon wants to bite my fingers and make this sound that sounds like a crow...i notice that the others do it but they seem to only do it when they get mad or bothered...but Lemon does it ALL the time. Its very rare to get that cute little chrip from her. But she is the only one that does it on a daily basis. Banana and Plum are soooo Loveable! Lemon is to a certain level but this biting thing is really getting to me cause it doesnt matter if shes in the cage or out she still goes for those fingers and she even does it to my kids and to my husband. First i thought i was just ME but nope its everyone. Even Banana and Plum get nipped at! When i have them out of the cage and she does this i just put her back in the cage while the others play but there she goes acting all crazy trying to get out and makling that crazy noise. Does anyone know what this is about? I'm sure it doesnt have nothing to do with her "stargazing" but gezz can someone shed some light!!!?????

Is lemon a DNA'd female? What I mean is, do you know FOR SURE that she is a female? She could be becoming cage aggressive (defending her "territory") or becoming nesty. Female lovebirds sometimes get little attitudes or she could even be going through a growth spurt (think teenager stage in humans) depending on her age.

Im sure it has nothing to do with you!! Many things could be going on - lovebirds are pretty complicated creatures. Don't give up hope, she might just need to be worked with (I know the biting doesnt help). Keep us posted!

Well from what I'm "told" she is female. Her parents are the ones above in my sig. The father is peachfaced and the mother is well im not sure LOL she is some kind of dutch blue i think LOL im so bad with mutations as you can tell but anyways they said since the father is peach faced that Lemon is Lutino(cause of her color i'm guessing) and that Lemon is a girl...how that works out i dont know LOL

And thanks for the tips! I'm hoping that she calms down at least a little cause she is a crazy little thing LOL but i love her to death!!! She will be 5 weeks old tomorrow so i guess i'm hoping that the "teenage" years go by quickly LOL :)

Oh shes only 5 WEEKS old?? That is VERY young - do you mean months?? & yes I think you are right about lutinos being female, Im almost positive that most, if not all, lutinos are female.

Not all lutinos are female. Females are more common though because in order to have a lutino female baby only one lutino gene is needed. However, a male needs two lutino genes.
