uhmm....is poopy eating normal??

So I noticed after weaning out my lovebird, she has the habit of eating her own poop now. is that normal? Besides her molting everything else is normal. She doesn't do anything strange or whatnot besides eating her own poop.

I heard that poop eating is not a good thing for them to be doing. Poop = Bacteria So i was told to keep them from eating it.

No, it isn't normal or healthy. If you can, put her in a cage with a grate and the newspaper on the pan below where she can't get to the droppings. Of course some will fall on the grate itself, so good idea to wipe it several times a day as needed. But the grate will help a lot in keeping her away from the poop.

Does she have shredding and other toys? Does she have a good diet? And what exactly is she being fed?

You may want to discuss this with your avain vet too.

I caught my conure doing this today on his play stand - and I clean that thing like crazy!! Definitely prevent it from happening if you can and prevent her from being able to get to it.
