Holy Cow...Er Love Bird!

As many know, I recently took in a 5 week old lovebird. I intended for this to be one that I finished weaning and adopted out. The lovebird came in through the rescue, not my personal home.

I can not believe how attached he/she has gotten so soon. She will immediatly fly to my neck and start nuzzling when I let her out of her cage. She tries to stay with me 24/7, and the other day she was so persistent that she ended up going with me to a foster home to check on a conure there.

I have hand raised several parrots (no lovebirds); is this common for hand raised lovebirds? Do they typically attach so strongly. My conure loves me, but he is not attached at the hip!

I've never had a lovebird or anything, so I don't know how typical it is, but it sounds *adorable!* I remember the pic you posted of that little one, such a cutie! Do you have any more pics? hehe

Yeah, that's pretty common. My chickies just want to snuggle!! As they get a bit older they get a bit more adventurous. I find they love coming for car rides. Some of my little ones snuggle up under my collar or hood if they're sleepy. Baby lovebirds are SOO CUTE!!

My first lovebird was just like that, wanted to be everywhere with me. The second one was more independent but loved my shoulder as did his BFF. They did get more independent as they got older but I loved that, it let me have some alone time!!! I would relish this time with this baby, a lot of lovebirds are NOT like that, and I wouldnt say that its typical behavior - lovebirds can be VERY fiesty!!!
