Kiwi won't play with toys in cage

My bird Kiwi has this weird thing. Is that she won't really play with any of the toys I put inside of her cage. I've even had this one, where its been in there for about 3 weeks now, and today I took it out, and put it in my room. And shes been on the thing all day.

i've been seeing Kiwi do this alot. Even toys she plays with outside that I know kiwi is comfortable with I put in teh cage and she doesn't even show the slightest interest in them. And Kiwi just usually wants to hang out on the mirror perch and snuggle on that.

I don't know if this is OK, or what. I would love Kiwi to play with toys inside of the cage, but no matter what toys I put in she just doesn't care about them. All in all, she's a very happy bird it seems. Kinda seems like she just wants to relax in the cage and then play alot when shes out. And I mean she plays ALOT. I usually read that lovebirds usually tire out in 20 minutes, not sure if thats true or what, but Kiwi can easily play around with everything for an hour.

I would be weary of the mirror. I think most would agree that you shouldnt have mirrors in your birds cage because #1 they could fall in love with themselves (seriously!) and become hormonal nightmares and #2 its just confusing for them to see another bird but not be able to touch it or interact with it. None of my birds have mirrors for that reason.

As far as the toys go, my parrotlet never plays with his toys. I was concerned at first but now know he just is laid back and would rather relax. If Kiwi is playing outside of the cage and interacting with you than he is just a normal happy healthy lovebird!!! Some birds like toys more than others. My painted conure is 50/50. Sometimes he likes the toys, other times he'd rather just sit on his perch and preen, it really just depends. Also, sometimes it takes birds a little longer to adjust to a new toy. You may come home one day and he will be playing happily in his cage.

I wouldn't worry, sounds like normal bird behavior to me!! & he sounds like a very healthy bird - I think he'll be fine = )
