;A; hm. nippy problem.

Lately my little Tino has been getting a bit more nippy. ;A;. When I put my finger up to him and tell him "up!", instead of getting up on it like he usually does, alot of times he will refuse to come off of my shoulder and make loud squeaks and bite me quite hard. He hasn't actually done this before, only since yesterday so I don't know why. Maybe he was tired? I have no idea. Today when he bit me hard, I simply put him back in his cage and covered it up and he quieted down. ;A; How can I have him not bite me?

He could be biting you for a number of reasons. Most likely he's biting you because he doesn't want to come off your shoulder. Or he is biting you because he sees that that behavior is dealt with by you putting him back into his cage. He could just not like having fingers near him (some birds never do). I wouldnt put him in his cage and cover it, you are only teaching him that if he bites you, he will go in his cage and he will learn that behavior fairly quickly. Get him to step up on a dowel rather than your fingers, that way he wont be biting you and he will learn to step up.
