Natural Yellow Mutation of a Blue and Gold

Bonjour,

I'm hoping someone can help me out. Attached are pictures of a natural yellow mutation of a Blue and Gold. Supposedly the birds are in Manila, Philippines at Birds International but I have not been able to verify that as yet. My hope is that someone seeing this thread can assist me in finding more information about these birds i.e. how many where hatched with this mutation , do the parents consistently throw this mutation, any hope that the offspring with this mutation will become available for sale etc.

Many thanks,

Tim

Does Monica still post here? She should have some links to pix of other birds like this one, as it isn't the only one in existence. I love that bird's coloring and hope maybe someday I can have one like it. This bird and its kind are worth a fortune, though, and I doubt I'll ever be able to afford one....

Monica should be by shortly. how expensive do you think they'd be? i cant even afford a hy. but this yellow bird is the most beautiful macaw i've ever seen. those wings are breath taking. my dream has always been a hy, is there a yellow hy mutation? i'd love to see a picture of that.

It's possible that this mutation is an opaline mutation B&G, however, this would depend on how the trait is passed down to the offspring. That particular chick, was from my understanding, in Japan... however, there have been others, at least 10 I'd say... even a blue mutation.

I myself am interested in this particular mutation, and would be interested to know what exactly it is... as well as Terry Martin! I have yet however to get in contact with anyone about these birds as I've been a bit busy...

Blue Mutation B&G

"Opaline" Blue Mutation Chick B&G
"Opaline" aka Yellow Mutation B&G or pied?
Blue Mutation B&G
Blue/Turquoise Mutation GW? (thought to be hybrid but I believe it's a GW)

I agree--they're totally breathtaking. I have heard (and have no idea how close to the truth it is) that someone offered $1M for this bird, and the offer was declined.

thanx monica, the blue mutations are beautiful as well, but yellow and blue are such complementry colors. like an aspen tree against a blue sky in the autumn.

a million bucks? holy cow! if i had a million, i would set my self up raising hys, spix, palm cockatoos, gold conures, and all the other indangered ones, and do my part to help replenish those.
