B&G vs GW

Howdy guys!
We will be adding another bird to our flock in a bout a year. I have been doing some research but need to ask the experts their advice. Presently I hae a 3 year old CAG named Katie...sweet as pie and a DYHA (Stanley) who is just 7 months old. He is the love of my life and we are so enjoying bonding and learning together. I want to wait till Stanley is a little older...about another year... before adding in a larger bird. I do not house my birds together...everyone has huge cages and play spaces. My CAG is curious about Stanley and Stanley loves her but she is stand-offish so they are never on the big playstand together unless I am standing right there. They are apples and oranges after all :)

Here is my actual question: In adding another bird and wanting a Macaw which would you suggest being a better choice? B&G or Greenwing? I love them both and have fallen in love with babies of both species at bird stores...what cuddly angels they both seem to be as babies! I however have fairly limited experience with adults. I have friends that have both and they seem to act so differently I can't peg general personalities. Just like with my Amazon, I know I will need to set good boundaries from day one but I don't necessarily want to butt-heads daily to keep my fingers (lol). Advice please???
Thanks in advance, Deanna

Deanna:

I have a greenwing and 4 blue and golds. I love them all to pieces. The BGs are quicker and more athletic, but my greenwing is more cuddly. I think that you cannot go wrong with either. They are my most favorite parrots on earth.

I waited 6 years for my greenwing and she's been a dream come true. However, she's not better than my BGs. She's just redder and bigger .

For more information, check out our BIRDBOARD WORK AREA. I've done species profiles on both.

Thanks so much Nancy...off to read your profiles now. What do you think of the idea of waiting a year till Stanley is a little older? Do you feel that is important?
