I so want a hyacinth
Ok I used to swear I would NEVER buy a bird..LOL..this is because I am a big fan of rescuing and rehoming poor birdies that need a good home..and that has done me good
I have some wonderful babies from doing just that BUT...I have met 2 hyacinths in my life and fell truly, madly and deeply in love. I have always wanted one but didn't know if I could afford them. I have seen them for 15000 and sometimes less..but pricey yes! I was also further scared away when a woman told me about the wasting disease many of them in this country have. It doesn't show until the bird is truly ill and no treatment. So A. Any suggestions on how I find a reputable breeder of them? and B. anyone know any more on the wasting disease? and please tell me I can get one for less then 15000!

Hmm I wonder if there is any truth to it that many Hyacinths in this country have them. She really did have an elaborate story but I have not found any validity either way on my online searches.

Silly Doctors!
May I get philosophical for a moment? Thanks.
How many people getting up in years, and looking untreatable by medical science for all sorts of maladies are checked into a hospice to die only to get better? In many cases in a hospice all medications are taken from a patient and a comfortable as possible death is waited for. Many of these people get better by being removed from their meds and removed from their doctors care. There is a lesson to be learned here. I am not sure what, but I will give it some deep thought over the next fifty years or so. What I do know is most all drugs are derived from many questionable sources and we are treated with what amounts to slow poisons. They figure what does not kill us only makes us stronger I guess. Animal medicine is not far removed from human medicine. MWD has no test, no vaccine and no cure? Maybe they are not looking at the problem correctly. Cancer was not discovered in this country until they had built a hospital to "cure" it in 1905. No cures yet, yet every town has a cancer wing in a hospital near you to make you sick and deplete your insurance and deductible. The cure to every malady is inside us, not in a pill or shot. The key to understanding diseases is to understand politics and power. Wellness has very little to do with modern day cures offered today. Fresh air, sunlight, fresh alive water, fresh alive foods, moderation in all things except lots of rest, and freedom from stress, will keep the doctor away. That advice, free as it is, works on all creatures, large and small and feathered. Nebraska has no Avian vets and I really never loose any sleep over that shortage of illness trained medical talent. Not really. Do not treat the symptom, support the being at the basic level with everything needed to nurture life-force and everything will go according to Natures perfect plan.

me, and my friend, are here in the DFW area, TX. hers are beautiful :) in fact, it was at her house that i saw hy's for the first time in person. she feeds her babies really well too, they are beautiful :) i always wanted a hy, but i LOVE gw's. their personalities are pretty much the same, except gw's are alot cheaper to buy, and alot cheaper to feed. red is one of my fave colors too, lol. i love thier huge red, green and turquoise bodies, and their black and ivory-colored beaks, plus the red lines on their faces :) they love for that bare facial skin to be rubbed and kissed :D
