Ok, now I'm going to sound like a real idiot. I've never heard of an Illiger macaw. Large or mini?

Going to assume smaller due to the size of the beak?

They are mini macaws. I've got a little turkey myself. At 10 months she's about 248 grams. Big Macaw personality in that little body though. Don't tell them they are mini.

Where did your get your Illiger from? They do think the are large macaws and will hang out with them if you let them. The large birds here like Jabber because he can say most of their names or mimic them.

We got her from a friend who had recently gotten a new job and wouldn't be able to give her all the attention she wants and deserves. After some research, we found that she comes from a breeder in Oregon (there's only a few in the NW that breed Illigers) and we were even able to find out her hatch date. Oddly enough, we have a friend in the Seattle area that has an Illigers too, same legband information and found that they are actually related, from the same parents, just different clutches/year.
Shiloh also is great at mimicking. She's learned to say everything that our Senegal says, on top of an ever growing vocabulary and she's great with sounds. Every morning starts with her telling the Senegal "You're a good boy!"
