Introduction to Ivy, the Hyacinth who Owns Me :)
hello all,

i am new here and i thought i would introduce to you my baby girl who came home to me 3 weeks ago. her name is Ivy and she is a Hyacinth Macaw. she has become the light of my life, i just adore her. she is 7 months old, loves to cuddle, and can gulp down mac nuts like it's nobody's business :)

she is more or less fully flighted, and we are still trying to get some in flight photos of her. that girl just LOVES to fly, i will never take that from her. even if she does drive me nuts flying to the top of our crown moulding ;)

she is semi-weaned, but still likes to eat some thick formula out of a bowl at night before bedtime. i am having trouble getting her to eat veggies/fruits outside of baby food (organic)...sometimes i think she doesn't know what to do with solid food and then i give her some nuts and they are GONE lol!

i hope to learn so much from you all, and hopefully give some help myself.

What a gorgeous baby! A lot of people on this board are extremely jealous, myself included! (But we'll get over it). Three pages of photos .... what a wonderful family addition.

How does your papillon get along with Ivy?

well, it seems like you all have babies to proud of yourselves!

my pap is pretty jealous of ivy, he is quite a momma's boy and doesn't like to seeing anyone else in momma's lap! but he doesn't go after her or anything, he actually seems quite curious about her. i think they will be friends :) i have another dog too, and she keeps her distance from ivy. my cockatiel artemis bit her on the nose once so i think she knows what kind of damage that larger beak can do.

absolutely gorgeous.

I should have known better than to have clicked on that link, everytime i see pictures I want one. The size of the beak scares me though...

Hows her temperament??

she is an absolute DOLL! very sweet and cuddly and VERY gentle. her beak is honestly nothing to worry about, she even "holds hands" with me with her beak. :)
