Introducing Lu

He's my goofball bird!! He's had a few things going on, back in February of 05 he started shredding his feathers. I was so upset, I thought maybe it was due to me and my husband separating, but he did not like my husband, so it baffled me as to what the cause was.....so, 2 days later, this is what his nares looked like......

Needless to say, I was extremely worried, so I packed him up and off to the Avian vet we went......he was diagnosed with Aspergillosis, but the good thing was I caught it VERY EARLY, and he was treated with 6 monts of Sporonax (sp?), and retested negative in June of last year. After only a few days on the meds, his nares cleared up.....

Here he was at the breeder, the day he chose me to be his new mom.

Here's another shot....one of my favorites

One last one.....isn't he handsome???

I warned everyone I have TONS of pictures!! Hope you enjoy!

We love those mini macaws, bring on the pictures. The little guys think they are as big as the biggest macaws!!

You want more??? ALLRIGHT!!

He is a Hahn's. Bitty bird who really thinks he's a greenwing!!! Severe's are still mini's, but much larger than the Hahn's. Next step up from a Hahn's is the Noble, who's beak is horn colored instead of the darker hahn's beak, then the Illigers, then the Severe.

Oh I was sure wrong huh. I still can't get them straight, I'll have to do a search and see them side by side. Yes I'd love more pictures of him

Talking Very Handsome

Those pics are irresistible. Thanks for posting the red nares photo, for those of us who have never seen that problem. How do they get that condition???

We never get tired of photos around here - at least I don't. So many of you take such great shots - I'm envious!

Great pix!!
I have a Severe Macaw that gets swollen nares every summer.
He is dried out! I have to moisten his nares and even have to soak them with saline nasel drops.
He's from the Northwest and now we live in the southwest.
He's the only one who has problems with the dry air.

Good luck!
