Trying to decide

Hello All,

I am trying to decid between two macaw species, first the Green Wing which I have wanted for years and second the Buffon which I recently started learning about. Can any one with macaw experience give me your insight (which will be a better pet ect)

Thank You
David Diaz

Buffons are a lot more expensive, CITES controlled and hard to find. They are so rare, they really should be in breeding facilities whenever possible. However, they are wonderful birds. I know of two of them that are pets and both seem to be a lot like the GWs.

The GWs are slightly smaller, more colorful, lots of fun and require a lot of toys and one on one time. They make wonderful companions to those folks willing to discipline and reward them when they are young. A well socialized GW is a treasure. I know, I have one.

From what I understand of the Buffon is that they are not the best pets. Military Macaws are nippy yes, but the tend to make the better pet similar in appearance and coloration but cheaper.
You won't be disappointed with the GW Macaw.
