However, after saying that, my two were afraid at first...one of them was very afraid even though they were being raised in a loving home. Most all of them are all going to be afraid in the beginning but will quickly warm up to you once they learn to trust you...that usually happens by the second day you have them. What I watch for when I go to buy one is "how it responds to it's caretaker" while I stand back a ways. If the bird is calm and loving with the caretaker, then I can be assured that is the way it will be with me after a couple of days. I surely don't expect the bird to trust me right away as soon as we meet.

that's so cute!!!! makes me want a macaw even more now, but no more birds for us til we get our own house...i was playing with a baby GW the other day, and it just put it's head on my chest and said, "i love you"....i basically turned into a big pile of jello

That's exactly what happened to me yesterday. I already wanted one, he didn't have to make it any harder for me!!

I, 'Too, won't get another bird until I own a house (especially a GW).
