What is this sound?

Since I am learning everyday, I have to ask questions.. And what better place to come than here, so forgive the many questions, I do appreciate the help.

Diego makes this sound when he is hanging out on top of his cage. Its a short RAHH......Very soft, and I would compare it to a kitten purring. He will do it about every 3-4 seconds for a while..

I have noticed that he also does it when he is on my lap and I am scratching his head. Even when he crawls up to put his head under my chin(s) he does it.

Is this a "purring" bird? Is this a happy sound? I know when he does not want to be left alone to play by himself, he will throw out a hisss...

What do you think?

It's a baby caw. I love that sound! Mine do it when they are eating nice warm foods, or perfectly content, or being scratched- but also if they are lonley and want attention because they know I Will come running. Does yours hunker down, make that sound and fluff up just a bit?

Mine know that every time they do that I have to drop what I am doing and run to snorgle their neck.

I agree with MiloMacaw. Our B&G, Harley, does the same things for all the same reasons.

Thats pretty much it. I do notice it is different than his baby coo right after he is fed. This is more of a deeper soft growl....

thanks
