What cage size do you have

If you don't already know i am the future owner of a GW macaw. I wanted to hear from the GW owners on what size cage you have in your homes for your GW.

Thank You
David

I don't own a GW, but the absolute smallest I would go with is a 40 x 30.

I'm with Calvin's Mom.. the absolute SMALLEST size you should get is 40 x 30..and preferably with exterior feeder doors to maximize the space. Dometops are preferred here, but if you are short on places to put large playgyms, then a Playtop is fine..

I disagree!
I think 48 x 30 for a GW should be the minimum..... it does depend on how long the bird will spend in its cage each day.

These are active, intelligent birds and need room to move and things to do.

Seymour and Captain Jack each have there own cage. Our cages are 40x30, a touch small but they are never really in there cages. They literally are cage free 24 hours a day except on the rare occasions where nobody is home. And that is still only for a few hours a week at most.

David, Diego and Gideon are both in 30x40 cages. Diego's is a playtop and Gid's is a dome top. I much prefer the dome top and hope to replace Diego's when our bonuses are paid this year. My guys spend so much time on stands that their cages work well for them. However, I agree that 30x40 should be the smallest option.

I have a B & G macaw and hate my 40 X 30 cage...even though she gets time out to play, to me it's too small. A GW is bigger than a B&G. I am looking to get the double cage...80 X 40 X 80. For the price, and with free shipping, if you can fit it in your home..that's what I would get.

Did you realize that you are responding to an old post.

I agree with you though, that huge MaCaw cage is the way to go. Also, there really isn't any such thing as free shipping - it is built into the price when sellers use that term.

If you were in my area I can get you that same cage for a total of $525 - so now you have a price to compare elsewhere. I don't ship.

LOL oops... Oh well. Yes, you are the one that got me to take a hard look at that cage.Yours is the best deal, but it would'nt fit in my car & I don't have a truck willing to go to S. Fl to get it. 614.00 w/ a toy, shipped is the next best price I could find. Wish you were coming up for the bird show...
