Update on Winston (was microchip rejection ?)

Well, after having tests repeated (middle of December), everything came back fine. However, the vet was not opposed to putting him on treatment for Giardia just to see if it would help (he has a bald chest, a little on his feet, nothing missing on his wings). Tomorrow will be two weeks; I don't want to be too excited but I am seeing progress! His feet look a lot better, and the lower part of his body (below his keel bone) has down. I can see feather barbs almost at skin level on a lot of his chest. He is on Probiocin and Metronidazole 50 mg a day. He will be done with that tomorrow. I still have enough to continue treatment if it is needed. Is one round of treatment usually enough? I would hate to have to start all over again since he has responded well so far. Also, what is average length of time for (chest/crop area) feathers to come back in on a blue and gold? I am sure this can vary greatly...

Tif, congrats on your success! I'm glad to hear to it!!! Please keep it up! I'm not sure about treatments though for feathers if the feather follicles were not damaged badly then they should probably grow in within a couple months, though some might take a bit longer...

Thanks! :eusa_clap I REALLY hope that he continues to progress. I am just glad that whatever infection/parasite has caused this has not affected the other fids
