My baby Hahn's hatched today!
I'm so excited! My baby Hahn's macaw hatched early this morning! The breeder said she thought only one egg was fertile of the 4 laid, but I don't know if she knew for sure or how she came that that suspicion. I guess we'll know in the next few days. At any rate, we have the first deposit down for the clutch so we get the baby even if there is only one.
 I'm so excited! The stainless steel replacement hardware I ordered for the baby's cage and the parts to replace the pieces of the cage that were damaged in transit are supposed to arrive today as well so this is a great birdie day, so far. I hope this late snow doesn't slow the deliveries. We got about 4 inches of snow yesterday after having a couple weeks of spring weather (in the 70's and 80's). The sun is shining today so maybe it will all melt. We won't have our baby home for a few months, but I'm "nesting" already. Got a nice, big cage for the little feather duster, a box full of toys, and rope perches already. No end in sight, lol. The wait continues... The breeder is supposed to send me pics soon, and I'll post them when I get them. Wish us luck and a big, healthy baby!

That's so wonderful!!!! I'm so happy for you! I have tow arn you though, the wait is excrutiating but its well worth it!!

Oh sweet - I've had my hahns for 2 years now. Just 20 min ago he crawled up my arm, sat on my shoulder and gave me kissies:-) Some suggestions for your nesting urges: these guys are quite smart, so try and find things to hide food in. Mine love safflower seeds wrapped in paper towels. He also likes kabobs (soft wood chews), and shreddable things. Good luck!! K
