Exclamation GW on FL Craig'slist

Greemwinged Macaw/ play top & Cage

I just spoke to the woman who has this GW for "adoption". She has had her 6 yrs and is rehoming due to her (the woman's) poor health. "Crackers" comes with what looks like a nice cage, and a stand. The woman wants 800.00 for everything but she is probably willing to negotiate for the right home.

I just thought someone here might be able to give this girl a home... $800.00 is WAY out of reach for me at this time.

Looks like the macaw may be a ruby macaw... notice green-wings and facial marks? Then a patch of yellow? Me thinks possibly ruby macaw. I do wonder though, why does she show a clean cage, no toys, and only one perch?

Sounds good... bird looks good... but.. uh... cage?

Bird looks to be in good condition. Cage looks like it was cleaned up for sake of the pic. Perches leaning inside at an angle. Gosh, if I had the money, and the transport.....

Kim, Where is she located? FWCAS just rehomed 5 of 8 B&G Macaws last weekend-we have 3 more that need loving homes in FL. Sad story behind this but all 5 birds were loved pets of elderly man who originally had 26 macaws. Not all birds from Rescues are problem birds-especially in FL where we have such a large senior population-sometimes, they just need a new forever home. This woman is definitely violating Craigs List by selling live animals but maybe we can help her rehome this FID.

Ginny--she is on your side of the state-- brooksville...I have her phone number if you want to contact her- Cathy @ 352-835-4100. She says she does not have room in her house for the cage, the bird lives mostly on the stand in the house. The story is that she brought Cookie with her from Colorado b/c she was unable to find a satisfactory home for her there...The woman also has a CAG that she intends to keep as long as her health allows(cancer).

To me it looked like what was leaning inside the cage could be seed catchers? Hard to say...

I will play devil's advocate here. I know someone with a macaw and the bird spends 99% of its day outside of its cage. Actually, not sure she ever goes into her cage, now that I think of it. MAYBE (maybe) this is case with this bird. Can hope, can't we? Darlene in FL
