New greenwing

Hello,

I'm new here and my baby greenwing will be comming home this weekend I am so exited I dont know if its a girl or boy yet I will be handfeeding and I have been handfeeding the baby for a while at the breeders place and I also handfed all my zons so I have some experience. If you can share some of your greewing stories with me That would be great.Like is it true they are the gentle giants? Can or do they have the ability to talk?Do they like to roll on thier backs.I know all birds are different I just want to hear your experience with them. And I did a lot of reading and reaserch before buying one.I will give him or her a great home I already got a big hexagon cage it is huge I me and my hubby can fit in there i got many toys my birds are spoiled.I love them they all have different personalities. My yn is a riot she talks up a storm. It wasnt cheap buying the baby and getting all the thing needed for him or her.
Thank you,
Patrice

GWs are wonderful... they are the next best macaw to a Hy!!!! The answer to all your questions is simple—it depends on the bird and thier individual personality... I have a Ruby (1/2 GW, 1/2 Scarlet) and soon, a Hy, and a BFA (nine year old male that is incredible!) remember, all birds come with a "clean slate" it is up to you and God to help create their life story! When people read of other people's birds, sometimes it can lead to expectations from the new macaw owner, so, I won't go into detail with mine...

My best advice—ENJOY THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE!!!! Macaws are the best birds around! We can learn so much from them and the love that is shared between a macaw and thier companion human is indescribable!

Best wishes on your new fid!

New life, clean slate... yuppers! They are awesome! Some are cuddlers, some aren't. All of them have a bit of a 'royal' attitude.
If a toy is labled "Indestructable" Don't believe it. When it meets a GW's beak, it's gone... it may take a couple days, but write it up as a history lesson.
They are escape artists. They sit and watch, and then figure out for themselves, and are very proud of their accomplishments.
Good luck!

Girls seem cuddlier than boys. My Arthur isn't a cuddler--he's a chewer on the mommer :-). He plays hard, makes more vocalizations (not screaming) than all the other macaws in this household put together, and loves me so much it's scary--especially when that big beak is flying my way with an aim to land on my chest :-). Either way, boy or girl, you're gonna love your baby! You won't be able to help it--it's a Law of Nature. *grins*

mine is a boy. Sadly I have not seen him. There are very few breeders in my area and none breed green wings. So He will have to be shipped. I have a severe macaw and a umbrella cockatoo.

I cant wait for mine to come home. I sent off for his cage a few days ago ( I ordered it online) it should take around a week for it to get here so I hope I don't have the bird before the cage I was not expecting him to be weaned this soon. normally he would not be weaned to another two weeks or so. yes please post lots of pics I would love to see your baby. what type of cage did you get for him?

Tiffany
