Baby Greenwing Questions - sick???

Hi,

My husband and I just got a baby GW - 62 days old - still on three feedings a day. i have a few questions. I'm a very paranoid person, so please keep that in mind. We have two pugs. The bird and the dogs get along great. The bird seems to have acclimated VERY well - he took to our home immediately.

We haven't taken the baby to an avian vet for a general checkup since he's about 2 hours away. I hear the baby sneeze about once every day to once every other day. Every now and then, I think I hear him wheeze but my husband just says he's whining. He squawks very loud already and doesn't act sick at all. His nose isn't runny or anything (it does have a bit of crusted formula that got into his nostril by mistake though).

Also, his wings have quite a few black marks on them - I'm guess that this is just because he's a baby and new pretty ones will grow in.

So my questions are, does he sound sick? Do I need to bite the bullet and take him to the vet? Will his feathers re-grow without the black marks?

Thank you so much in advance!!

Exclamation

Your baby has possibly been aspirated. If you hear wheezing, you need to get to the vet immediately. If there is formula in the nostril, it needs to be cleaned out with a few drops of saline water like "Ocean" for humans. Put some in a small syringe and drop into the nostril. I would definetly get the bird to the vet if aspiration is possible. That can cause death.
