Blue Throated vs. Greenwing Macaw
I am considering getting either a Blue Throated, or Greenwing Macaw baby. Can anyone give me their experience with either one's temperament? I am planning to get a handfed baby - both of them seem to be wonderful birds, according to most of what I've read about each. I would appreciate any input. Thank you.

BTs and GWs are very different in personality... GWs are steady, more deliberate in their actions, and they are usually extremely lovable... BTs are a bit more stand-offish and love to play with things that exercise their mechanical abilities. All macaws are wonderful it all depends on what you're looking for and basing the birds needs, your needs, and the "generalizations" of the species to come to a conclusion. Please keep in mind, all birds are individuals and most people have opinions based upon second-hand information or reading... Most "generalizations" can be a good stepping point but they don't always hold true to every bird.
Is this your first macaw? If it is, I would recommend the GW because usually people are VERY happy with them! BTs are usually kept by those that HAVE to have one because of their rarity, or it's an addition to their current flock... personally, I would take a nice B&G over a BT anyday... they're a bit more stable and I think they make a better pet but, if I had to make a choice between a GW or a BG or any other more common large macaw, hands down, the GW would be my choice. Best of luck.

Both are very good birds! Let the bird pick you as well as you pick the bird.
