vitamins for baby blue and gold

Should I provide any vitamins for the baby when it comes? What types and at what age? I'm becoming over protective already I just dont want anything to happen to the little one. A huge thanks to everyone.

You shouldn't need any if you feed it the right foods. I use zupreem large parrot food and if I cook mac and cheese I will give him some. Not much maybe one time a week on the junk side. I have had him over a year and he is very healthy. "Vet approved"

Sorry for not having a question mark key, Sophie "killed" it.

How old will he be when you bring him home. Will he still be on hand feedings.
Macaws can take 6 months, or longer to be fully weaned. Research abundance weaning.

Offer a good variety of foods, we use different pellets, like Zupreem and Kaytee, mixed with Higgins fruit and veggie and Higins fruit to nut. They also share dinners with us, lots of fresh veggies, easier on the fruits, also birdie breads.

The more choices available the better chances of your bird getting the vitamins he needs.

Make sure you are giving the female extra calcium, during this process, laying eggs depletes their levels. She will need the vitamins not so much the new baby. However you need to make sure you are set up with all the proper feeding supplies as well as an incubator, in case your female is a good parent to the new one.

If you dont have experience with this you need to research tons and talk to local breeders and get some help as a baby can go downhill very quickly, can be asperated, or sour crop (formula not hot enough) or burn crop from food that is to hot.

Ive been doing research but there are alot of references out there but some say one thing and other say different so i was just trying to get other peoples point of view on the whole situation. I have an incubator and am purchasing feeding supplies next week just in case she wont feed him or her.
