Everyone Please Welcome - Wendy Craig to our "Ask The Experts Staff"

Wendy Craig (Macaw Expert)

Wendy Craig has been breeding some of the more rare and unusual species of macaws for 10 years. Notably, the Blue Throats (Canindes) and her much sought after Red-fronts macaws.

At Wendy’s Parrots, they also breed Greenwing, Scarlet, Blue and Gold and Military macaws and some of the mini macaws. Wendy is not limited to only macaws, however and raises Congo and Timneh African Grey parrots, Yellow Shouldered Amazons and Alexandrines.

Wendy believes that it’s very important to leave her babies with their parents for as long as is appropriate for their individual species and this produces more stable and well adjusted baby birds. She also fledges her babies and never force weans them. As a result, there is usually a waiting list for her special baby birds.

The Birdboard takes great pride in adding Wendy Craig to our team of experts.

Introduction

My name is Wendy Craig and I have been breeding the large macaws for about 10 years. There is nothing quite so majestic and at the same time comical, as a macaw. Although I love them all, my personal favorite and the one I specialize in is the Red-fronted Macaw.

As an aviculturist I feel it is my responsibility to help others as much as possible. All too often I find that either the human has poor or unrealistic expectations of the bird or the parrot is ill equipped to thrive in a given environment. I have been extremely fortunate to have some of the best aviculturists in the United States assist me along the way in regards to my breeding program. I have listened, learned and observed and come up with my own baby raising philosophy to insure that my babies have the best start possible. I will do my best to assist in any way that I can.

Wendy
