Amazing video! I've seen videos of them with their free flighted macaws before. These two are SO wonderful with their birds. They definitely have a gift working with these animals.

Their videos made me decide to build an outdoor aviary for my macaw and I've got my eye on a second one.

Would you have his email handy? I may be contacting him down the road once my aviary is built to help Newt adjust and learn to fly

those are the ideal conditions, outdoor free flight at barely 3 months old. how i envey them, but since i had to wait till my ruby weened, before i could even get her home at 6 months old, and her flight being retarded for another several months due to clipping, at 8 months old we are barely fluttering 5ft. with a downward arc. oh how i hate clipping. a bird should at least experience learning to fledge and fly naturaly first, even if it, eventualy, is to be in a home where it must be kept clipped.

ruby hadnt even ever learned to walk on a flat surface til i got her home. buckle (in the video) was running all over at avery early age.

my dream would be to live out in the country like that and to let parrots learn to fly naturaly, at fledge time. they would be much better birds for that.

KimM I'm also thinkin of buildin an outdoor avairy. Have you started yours yet? If so if ya get the time, I would love to see pics. What type of sides are ya gonna use? Some type of netting? or or metal like the cages?
The video is so sweet, when ever I see people that care for their birds this much...it just brings a smile to my face. But, I would be so TERRIFIED to let my birds free fly like that. I know these birds think they are their parents, and come back to them but I would be so scared that some type of loud noice or a hawk would scare the macaws and they would just take off. I would just be so worried that I couldn't even enjoy on minuet out there watchin them fly.

HI Kelly
Still in the planning stages of my aviary as well. I have the first step done. Cutting back my trees to fit the aviary. Unfortunately for my wallet, I want a big one so they can hopefully fly.
Idealy what I would like to do is have an enclosure built like they use on swimming pools (the framing), but of course I would have to find another material to enclose it with other than a screen. Still working on the planning stages, but if I find something out that works well, I'll keep you posted.
